Ashleigh Lindsay: From Buc-ee's Deli to Assistant General Manager at Tenmii Japanese Eatery
Ashleigh Lindsay's culinary journey began while working at Buc-ee's deli. Initially considering a move to the corporate side of the food industry, she realized a degree was necessary to create recipes. Life took a different turn, leading her to change jobs. Her passion for cooking was reignited when her fiancé introduced her to the TV show “The Bear.” Inspired by the show and encouraged by her fiancé's brother, a Helms College graduate, Ashleigh enrolled in the culinary program. Reflecting on her time at Helms, she fondly remembers the Gala during her first quarter. Despite being new to Knife Skills, she and her classmates prepared food for the event, earning praise and enjoying the camaraderie and celebration. Ashleigh is now training as the assistant general manager at Tenmii Japanese Eatery in Macon, a role that promises a bright future.Jacob Pirkey: Crafting a Culinary Path with Precision
Jacob Pirkey, a diploma graduate, is headed to New Orleans to work at the prestigious Restaurant August, under the mentorship of James Beard awarded chef Corey Thomas and Michelin-experienced pastry chef Tamber Weiersheuser. Jacob's journey to Helms College began with a part-time job at Props in Warner Robins, where he discovered his passion for the "organized chaos" of the kitchen. His classical training and knowledge from Helms College helped him transition smoothly into the culinary industry. Jacob advises incoming students to combine school with industry experience, as it allows one to find true passion in the demanding yet rewarding culinary world.Khaliyah Blye: Embracing Medical Assisting with Passion and Compassion
Khaliyah Blye pursued a medical assisting education at Helms College driven by her passion for the medical field and a desire to help others.
