Inclement Weather Graduation Update:
Due to an incoming weather system with expected snow accumulation, Helms College has canceled and rescheduled its Augusta Winter 2026 commencement ceremony originally planned for Saturday, Jan. 31.
The ceremony has been rescheduled to Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Warren Baptist Church in Augusta, as the safety of graduates, families, guests, and staff remains the college’s top priority.

AUGUSTA, GA –Helms College is proud to announce its upcoming Winter Graduation Ceremony, on Saturday, January 31, at 11 a.m. at Warren Baptist Church in Augusta.
The ceremony will recognize graduates from Helms College’s Augusta campus who have completed associate degrees, diplomas, and graduate-level programs in healthcare, business, hospitality, and other workforce-focused fields aligned with regional employment needs.

“Graduation is a moment of pride for our students,” said Kris Furtaw, senior vice president for education operations at Helms College. “They’ve balanced work, family, and responsibility while committing themselves to learning and growth. They leave Helms College with skills they can use, confidence they’ve earned, and pride in what they’ve accomplished.”
The commencement speaker will be Miriam Yvette Jones Atkins, M.D., F.A.C.P., a board-certified medical oncologist, U.S. Army veteran, and physician owner and partner with AO Multispecialty Clinic (Augusta Oncology, P.C.). Dr. Atkins is widely recognized for her leadership in healthcare, military service, and advocacy for patient access and medical education.
