
Macon’s favorite classroom-turned-restaurant is back.
Edgar’s Bistro , the student- and faculty-run dining experience at Helms College’s Polly Long Denton School of Hospitality, reopens for lunch service starting Tuesday, July 30. The Bistro will be open Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering a seasonal menu handcrafted by Helms College culinary students under the direction of newly appointed Chef Rodney Booker .
Chef Booker brings years of industry experience and a passion for mentoring the next generation of culinary professionals. His leadership continues the Bistro’s mission of providing real-world, high-level training for Helms College students—while serving up unforgettable meals for the community.
- Salads - Garden Salad, Cobb Salad, Watermelon & Feta Salad
- Sandwiches - Shrimp Po’Boy, Hand-Crafted Burger, Helms College Club, Grilled Thai Chicken Sandwich
- Entrées - Cajun Pasta, Bourbon Glazed Beef Brisket, Salmon with Sweet Chili Sauce, Seasonal Chicken & Vegetable Kabobs
- Desserts - Homemade Peach Pie, Bourbon Pecan Brownie

The hands-on experience students gain at Edgar’s Bistro also prepares them for larger-scale events, such as the 2025 Goodwill Gala on November 21 at the Anderson Conference Center. Helms College culinary and hospitality students will prepare and serve an unforgettable menu for hundreds of guests. All proceeds from the Gala support scholarships for Helms College students.
