The Helms College Macon and Augusta Campuses are currently enrolling for the spring semester. With this in mind, the faculty and staff of Helms College’s Polly Long Denton School of Hospitality in Macon and the Augusta School of Hospitality and School of Health Services in Augusta invite you to tour the campuses and explore future career opportunities during open house Saturday, March 11th, from 1o until noon.
Prospective Students Can Learn About the Wealth of Opportunities in Career Education offered at Helms College.Faculty and staff will be on hand to answer questions about school programs, scholarships and financial aid options to help you get started on the path to your new career. Our curriculum offers training for careers in the hospitality field and health services. Day and evening classes are available at both Helms College locations.
The Helms College School of Hospitality Associate Degree and Diploma programs prepare graduates for executive chef, sous chef, and restaurant manager positions. All Helms College culinary courses are taught by professional, industry-experienced chefs in a hands-on setting that allows the students to learn the best practices directly from accomplished chefs. The program emphasizes technical and theoretical knowledge; practical applications of cooking, baking, and serving; and management skills needed for success in the food service industry. Courses also include fundamental business skills such as cost control and supervising food service personnel.
Helms College’s School of Health Services offers training for Multi-Skilled Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician and Medical Administrative Assistant. Upon completion of any of these certificate-level programs, students will have a wide range of entry-level skills to serve in various allied health settings. They will also have the ability to gain specialized certification for positions in a variety of health-care facilities. This program is located at our Augusta campus.
If a career in culinary, hospitality or health sciences sounds like the right fit we encourage you to attend the open house. Refreshments will be provided, and the Helms College computer lab will be available during the open house session for prospective students who need assistance in completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
