Become a Helms Mentor
The goal of Helms College's mentor program is to provide individual, outside support for students throughout their training and transition into the workforce. Affiliated with Goodwill's Volunteer Services, the mentor program serves students from a variety of backgrounds, all of whom are striving to improve their lives and the lives of their families. As a mentor, you will help someone experience the self-sufficiency achieved by the pride and dignity of education and a career.

Helms College Graduation - Augusta, GA
Students at Helms College are starting the next chapter of their life today after graduating. It was a celebration as 10 students graduated from Helms College specializing in Culinary Education. The students are the first graduating class of the school operated by Goodwill Industries. The students learned culinary concepts such as cooking methods and international cuisine. Staff applauded the students' entry into the professional world after a year of hard-work.
Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP)
Congress passed, and the president has signed into law, the VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011. Included in this new law is the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP). VRAP offers up to 12 months of training assistance to unemployed veterans. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Department of Labor (DOL) are working together to maintain this new program which started on July 1, 2012.
